Candle Light Dinner Ideas At Home For Husband – I know Valentine’s Day is over. I know it’s the middle of the week. Today I’m sharing a romantic surprise dinner I made for my husband on Tuesday night.
I think the most romantic thing is the unexpected. When your man walks in the door with a bouquet of flowers for no other reason than he loves you. (Dave…if you’re reading this, I really like the idea. Just saying.)
Candle Light Dinner Ideas At Home For Husband
When I first came up with this idea, I knew I wanted to have dinner somewhere unusual in our home. I wanted it to have lots of candles and I didn’t want it to be for a special occasion.
Most Romantic Restaurants In London Now Taking Bookings
The weather was chilly (even though it was 80 degrees today!) so I thought the perfect setting would be to have dinner in front of the fireplace in our living room.
In the twenty-one years we’ve lived here, we’ve never eaten in front of a stove.
At first I thought I might sit on the floor next to the coffee table. But let’s be honest, sitting on your side and on the floor (with no place to put your feet!) is never comfortable. I decided to bring a table so that we could sit almost as if we were in a restaurant. Dining by the fireplace.
Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I ate at home in Southern California. Maybe eight months ago?

When you see what my “table” is made of, you’ll understand why you should use a tablecloth.
I used one of my Elfa drawer frames from The Container Store and two leaves from my dining table. That sounds pretty creative, doesn’t it?
It looks even better with the tablecloth, my copper charger, and the candle holder. Thick candlesticks are my candlesticks made from metal copper sheets.
You may remember the last time I shared this recipe and made homemade pasta. But since our dinner was “school night” on Tuesday, I decided to make a lighter version.

I made a brown butter sage sauce but used Buitoni’s pre-made Agnolotti mushroom ravioli. You know, “store bought.”

Earlier today my husband Dave asked what I was doing in the living room. I told him I was planning a romantic dinner for the two of us.
He asked, “When?” asked, so I thought it wouldn’t be dinner on Tuesday night. And he said, “What’s the special occasion?” asked. Of course I said: “Nothing!” answered.

Poor guy. I’m sure he checked the date and ran away, afraid he’d forget an important date.
Oh my god, it was perfect! We opened a bottle of wine, lit all the candles, and sat for two hours, eating and talking.
At one point we both laughed and said it really was “like being in a restaurant”. But the food was cheap, so we both drank wine and didn’t have to worry about going home.
(Of course, the only thing I had to do was finish my blog post after dinner. I know you won’t be surprised.)
