At Home Ideas For Valentine’s Day
Although I loved the white color, I wanted to decorate for Valentine’s Day. And to be honest, it needed some color – I always forget how dark and dreary it can be here in January! I haven’t had much time to decorate since I travel a lot, but I discovered some quick and inexpensive ways to decorate our home for Valentine’s Day.
Your Guide To Valentine’s Day From Home
Adding Valentine’s Day decor to your home doesn’t have to be complicated. Just follow these 7 easy ways to decorate for Valentine’s Day. It’s time to show some love!
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like a beautiful red and it doesn’t take much to make the red stand out from the white! I used some Love mugs, a felt LOVE banner and a red heart plate. These few items alone really turned the buffet into a wonderful Valentine’s Day vignette.
Using seasonal chocolates or other sweets is an inexpensive way to add a little color to your Valentine’s Day decor. Use packaged chocolates or place candies in covered glass containers. One of the great things about decorating with chocolate is that you don’t have to look at the end of the season. Just a warning that you may need to recharge often. ?
One of my favorite things to do each holiday season is to create printables to display. They are definitely the fastest and most economical way to add seasonal decor to your home. You can find my previous free Valentine printables HERE and I also have some new ones for you to download! Just click on the links below or at the end of the post.
Easy Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Kids
I picked up some of these wooden love tags from Michaels and added them to the lighted trees in our dining room and the winter wreath in our entryway. At the dollar store or Target, you can often find small signs that you can easily add to decor items you already have. They are inexpensive, don’t take up much storage space, and don’t require changing your existing decor. Enough layer, layer, layer!
Some Valentine napkins add a touch of seasonality to your kitchen for under $10. They are convenient to use during the holidays and to store later.
This is another one of my favorites! We don’t drink coffee here, so hot chocolate is our hot drink. Over the years, I’ve had a lot of fun creating new hot chocolate bar configurations and always changing them up with the different seasons. If you want to make your own hot chocolate bar for Valentine’s Day, you can check out my free hot chocolate printables HERE and my free hot chocolate labels HERE. I told you I love prints! ?
There’s nothing easier than throwing a Valentine pillow on a bench, chair or sofa! If you’re short on space, look for a pillow that can go over one of your current pillows. The tree is from my Christmas decorations, but the red berries go perfectly with my red and white Valentine decorations!

Be sure to grab the prints below while they’re out! ?We usually look forward to preparing Valentine’s dinner at home together. But like most of you, we’ve done it about 857 times since the pandemic began. So this year we partnered with our local Hy-Vee grocery store to plan a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at home.
This blog post is sponsored by Hy-Vee. Opinions expressed and memories of a wonderful romantic Valentine’s Day at home are our own.
As a man, I often feel a lot of pressure to throw an epic Valentine’s Day celebration. I need to find flowers, chocolate, wine and a thoughtful gift. I found everything I needed to celebrate this special day with my beautiful wife at Hy-Vee Aisles Online. The Hy-Vee website [CLICK HERE] and the free Hy-Vee mobile app also offer romantic dinners for two. Also, Hy-Vee will also bring everything and put it in my car along with my regular shopping. Talk about convenience!
Hy-Vee Floral can also decorate your order with a beautiful arrangement. Just choose something special online. Or stop by Hy-Vee’s flower department and the helpful staff will help you choose the perfect arrangement for your special occasion.
At Home Valentine’s Date Ideas
This year, through its catering department, Hy-Vee is offering special dinners for two that include everything you need to prepare a romantic meal at home. Three meal options are available, ranging in price from $25 to $60. We ordered the “Precious Dinner” which consists of two pancetta-wrapped sirloin steaks, chef’s salad, bacon-wrapped asparagus, two twice-baked potatoes, four mini gourmet cupcakes. . and a freshly baked baguette.
We got all this for only $25. All we had to do was cook the steaks and asparagus and put the potatoes in the oven. What a deal! I mean, seriously. Where else can you get a meal like this for only $25?
In addition to dinner for two, I was able to order flowers, Godiva chocolates, and even a bottle of wine to accompany our steak dinner. For dessert I also bought a Prosecco DOCG from Valdobbiadene.
Since Hy-Vee takes care of most of the Valentine’s Day dinner, we thought it would be fun (and romantic) to make toast as an appetizer using the baguette that comes with the meal. Take advantage of Hy-Vee Aisles Online’s large grocery selection.
