Take two large sensory containers or Tupperware. Fill the bowl with water and dishwashing liquid. Stir until frothy. You don’t need a lot of water to make it interesting, and an inch or two is fun. Place a towel underneath everything to reduce the mess and clean up afterwards. Fill another tub with tons of farm animals or dinosaurs or cars. You can set one thing to wash every week! Let the animals wash with soap and water. Add a towel to dry. You can also add fine motor tools to the wash, such as eye drops or turkey drops, sponges or brushes. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can take the animals out of the tub and put cool water in another tub for your child to bathe in and rinse them off before drying them off.

Fill the sensor box with all metal parts. Think toy trains, cars, coins, paper clips, fridge magnets, clocks, magnetic letters, keys. Also remove other non-metallic objects. Give your child a magnetic stick and let him try to grab the object. Use masking tape to add cardboard tubes to the sides of the sensor box and drop metal objects into the corresponding tubes, then pick up the objects with a magnetic stick. See how we did it here.

Tear off the aluminum foil with the puzzle pieces and roll them up for you! A model of how to wrap in aluminum foil, folding the puzzle pieces instead of crushing them. Put all the pieces in the basket and start wrapping! Trust me, they’ll want to do this more than once, so break up a bunch and hand them out if necessary.

On a large butcher sheet, draw the outline of various animals, such as a turtle, lion or peacock, and ask your child to fill in the rest of the animal with LEGO DUPLO.
